Winter Solstice Greetings to You from Bridie’s Farm

“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.”
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

News From The Land…

Reflecting on a wonderful year of rooting and mycelial connection, for the land and Bridie’s community. A time of stillness and observation approaches once more with the Winter Solstice and the land offers plenty to take note of, from the ebbs and flows of the water to the visiting migratory birds and the resident non-human species.

Volunteering Opportunities

Keep an eye on the website and socials @bridiesfarm for tree events in the new year. Our weekly Community Tuesday group returns in Spring 2025.

We are prepping some new areas ready to plant trees in our research and demonstration area using the Miyawaki method of creating a fast-growing forest. This Japanese method of fast forest creation has been trialled with great results in other areas of the UK and we are keen to try it at Bridie’s Farm.

Unfortunately, the weather was not with us for our November event, as we found ourselves making right after storm Bert, so this was postponed with new dates to follow in the New Year, as weather and conditions allow.

Events

Bon and Polly attended the LandAlive Conference at the Bath & West Showground on 22/23 November. This was a great opportunity to spend time with the 5mile Food & Farming Crew, listen to some inspiring speakers and lots of new connections were made too.
