We promote a holistic approach to wellbeing, with an appreciation of Ecology, Community and Spirituality as fundamental factors influencing our ability to thrive.
Bridie’s Farm plans to partner with local health and social care organisations and community wellbeing initiatives to offer a wide range of opportunities, including on-site activity and outreach to local education and care providers.
Underpinned by Permaculture principles and Green Care approaches, namely Social & Therapeutic Horticulture, we will create safe and nurturing spaces for reflection, respite, recovery, and therapeutic activity; particularly in the development of the Permaculture gardens, Apothecary, and Physic garden areas of the site.
Our community volunteering groups will provide space for coming together with shared intention to co-create and jointly experience the growth of this community asset. We will explore together ways to strengthen our connection to the soil and landscape that feeds us, the ecosystem of which we are a part and our relationships with each other and to ourselves alike.
Volunteers and visitors are welcomed to experience the interdependencies between these elements, whether passively or actively engaging with the landscape, through community food and herb growing, sharing food and conversation, wildlife habitat creation and management, forest gardening, eco-building, heritage crafts or simply taking a stroll, to name but a few of the activities available.
The full scope of our health and wellbeing provision will be realised as the project establishes itself and as we work to develop a site with good accessibility and adequate facilities to comfortably support visitors with particular needs.
“The Elders were wise. They knew that man’s heart, away from nature, becomes hard; they knew that lack of respect for growing, living things, soon led to a lack of respect for humans, too”
