We will be constructing low-impact buildings to support the educational and functional outputs of our community farm. There will be many opportunities for training and a variety of traditional and modern sustainable building techniques used. With stages of the construction organised as workshops for our wider community, aimed at anyone looking to develop skills in natural building. Activities will be tailored for different ages and abilities.
We are currently working on our Hub, with space for volunteer and staff welfare facilities, kitchen and offices. Polytunnels are due to provide indoor propagation and activity space from Spring 2024.
Our hopes are for the roundhouse to be the first community space used for indoor activity, learning and events.
FARM BARN DESIGN
As the largest building to be constructed at Bridie’s Farm, The Barn will be particularly important, being designed ultimately for traditional farm use: storage of produce, materials and machinery.
The biggest dry space, it will play a vital role in the project set up phase while other parts of the farm are developed.
